Patients have the flexibility to self-administer their Acthar dose wherever and whenever is suitable for them. Dose and frequency must be individualized, taking into account the patient’s medical condition, severity of illness, and initial response to treatment.
When you prescribe Acthar, you may request Home Injection Training Services (HITS) for your patient on the Referral/Prescription Form. Support specialists from A.S.A.P. will arrange this training.
When used to treat MS relapse, Acthar can be injected subcutaneously or intramuscularly, as demonstrated to patients in the following videos, which are also available on the patient website.
H.P. Acthar® Gel (repository corticotropin injection) is indicated for the treatment of acute exacerbations of multiple sclerosis in adults. Controlled clinical trials have shown Acthar to be effective in speeding the resolution of acute exacerbations of multiple sclerosis. However, there is no evidence that it affects the ultimate outcome or natural history of the disease.
